Furnace Creek Campground

Monday | 30 October 2000 | Death Valley National Park: Up and out early from Las Vegas. Our heads were a little big and we did not have much sleep... we left Las Vegas, filling up the diesel tank on the way out of town... 60 gallons later (we have a 90 gallon tank) we were on Highway 95, to 373 - heading towards the California border and Death Valley National Park.

We pulled into our reserved campsite at Death Valley's Furnace Creek Campground about 2:00 p.m., which gave DT time to get in 9 holes before dinner. While he was golfing, I walked over to the Visitor's Center and bought/wrote ELEVEN postcards. I was going to cook an ambitious dinner, or we were going to be very adventurous and walk over to the dining room at the Furnace Creek Ranch for a big ranch-hand steak dinner... but in the end we had 'egg and chip' (otherwise known around here as Greek omelets and french fries - of the frozen variety) in our motorhome and were in bed at 9 p.m. and slept for 10 hours! (I think it was our late night at the Blackjack tables?)
