On the Road Again
FRIDAY | 7 April 2000 | Trip Notes:
DT and I are traveling for a month in our motor home. We are heading south,
down 395 - taking the long way to Las Vegas - and a Jimmy Buffett concert on
April 15th. After fun in Vegas, we will visit the Grand Canyon, head up
Yosemite, over to Merced for a weekend with the brothers for the Annual
Blues & Brews Festival, to San Francisco and back home. So, we will be
visiting a few cities, but also several pretty remote (no cellular service!)
parts of the Southwest, so I will not be able to update my journal daily.
So, check back often!
See you on the road!

Snickers, the "Rest Stop Dawg"
ADDED LATER: We are near Mt. Shasta! A very
unexciting day, all in all - just driving. This will be our first long trip
with Snickers. It is like traveling with a baby - so much "stuff" - bed,
crate, food, dishes, leashes, treats, toys. With a dog along, we must stop
more often than we usually do - fine with me, sometimes it is difficult to
get DT to stop! Most rest stops have "dog walking" (i.e. bathroom) areas.
Snickers rides in his crate or on his blanket on the sofa - photo above.
After crossing into California this afternoon, a blonde, tanned surfer-dude
boarded our camper and said he wanted to inspect my grapefruits. (He was a
State Agriculture Inspector and wanted to look in our fridge.) He liked my
grapefruit so much, he confiscated all three! Seems Florida grapefruit are
not welcome in California. At about 5 p.m. we found ourselves in Mt. Shasta
and found a campground with a lake and a view of the mountain. Tossed salad,
Challah and lasagna. Strawberries for dessert. We will head east tomorrow,
towards Reno, on our way to Mammoth Lakes.
