Seven Feathers Casino

Saturday | 5 February 2000 | Canyonville, Oregon: We had a nice day… but first a mention about last night. Woody, Kyle, Mary, Cory and Chris stopped by early in the evening to see Goldie. We had a great time showing her off. Then we had our 11th Annual Lunar New Year Reunion at a local Chinese restaurant. There were 22 of us gathered last night – our common connection: we were friends in Taiwan around 1985-1990-ish. We had two additions this year – a new daughter for one family and one of the bachelors was married.

Anyway… we had too much fun last night, but were still able to get out of town just after 8:00 this morning. It was sunny! We took our time, but traffic was light and we made good progress and this time there were no problems with Goldie. (Sound of knocking on wood.) We were even successful at our first try at our new card-lock diesel fueling system! Put the card in, punch in our SECRET CODE and the diesel began to flow! Amazing. But, it was getting close to noon and I could not bear to miss my Colonials v. Xavier on the satellite, so My Driver began to look for a good resting spot and wouldn’t you know it – we were just at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, Oregon? Just off the freeway. It took me about 10 tries to get the satellite signal… I was nearly hysterical when we finally locked-on. The news just gets better and better as GW was victorious. Lisa was at the game and actually phoned us (her cell pone to ours) from the game. DT had a quick run and then it was time to check-out the casino. I checked it out to the tune of an extra $150 in my purse! The casino was incredibly smoky, so we skipped the casino buffet dinner, walked back to Goldie and dined on huge salads. We will try to get to bed early tonight and drive like mad tomorrow. Most likely, I will not be able to update tomorrow because of the lack of cellular service… so until the next installment, I remain, your traveling correspondent.
