Emerald Cove
Wednesday | 7 February 2001 | Earp, California:
This morning, we gathered our newly bathed dog from the kennel and drove to
Earp, California to spend a few days with my parent's. They are on a RV trip in
Arizona... also here for a few days are my Aunt (Dad’s sister) and Uncle. We
will have a mini-family reunion!
RV Park:
Colorado River Adventures - Emerald Cove
Thursday | 8 February 2001 | Earp, California: Earp is a
very small town. They do have a post office, but you can only SEND mail from the
post office, you cannot RECEIVE mail at the post office. Earp also has a gas
station and little else. Earp sits across the Colorado River from Parker,
Arizona... which is 5 miles down-river from the Parker Dam. Today we went to the
local Indian casino for lunch at their buffet, but the line was so long we left
and went towards the dam to a small cafe for a nice lunch with my parents and
aunt and uncle. On the way home we stopped at Emerald Canyon golf course and
made a tee-time for DT and Uncle Larry for tomorrow. There is also a 9-hole golf
course across the street from the RV Park, but it has no grass - only SAND - and
I don't think DT wants to scratch-up his clubs enough to play there! We also hit
the local Safeway and headed back to Goldie for a clean up and readied ourselves
for the GW v Temple game on the satellite. Oh, it was an awful, awful game.
SirValient Brown was out with "turf toe", the game was at Temple and Bill Cosby
was not in the house. Though My Man Chris Monroe scored 25 points, GW was
slaughtered. It was ugly. My tickets for the GW v Temple game on March 3 are on
my desk at home... can't wait for THAT game. (Ouch.) Then we decided to
punish ourselves again and watched our Ducks fall (but just barely) to Stanford.
The weather is not very good here - it is sunny, but it is only 62 degrees.
I know, I know, it is freezing at home, but no matter where we search nearby,
the weather is cold.
I did have some excitement here today! I ran into my RVW friend, Beckey at
this campground! Isn't it a small world?
Friday | 9 February 2001 | Earp, California: Shabbat Shalom
from the middle of nowhere! We had a very quiet day. It was actually sunny and
warm until the early afternoon when the wind returned and it became chilly
again. I spent the afternoon chatting with Beckey. DT and Uncle Larry played
golf at Emerald Canyon. They could only get a late tee-time and could only
finish 14 holes. DT said it was a very difficult course, because of narrow
fairways, but it was a fun. After dinner, we had a Chickenfoot Domino
tournament. Mom was the BIG WINNER, with Dad coming in second. Much wine was
consumed, so I am not sure who came in third, etc... My Aunt and Uncle
leave tomorrow for Yuma.
