Part One: Looking East
Wednesday - 18 September 2002: Boise, Idaho
- Welcome to Perimeter Tour 2002!We have packed Goldie to
the max for this trip - it will be our longest trip to date, maybe three
months or so. On October 11th, Lisa will have her last (she is a senior)
"Parent's Weekend" at GW and we plan to be there for all the excitement. We
have a few stops planned along the way, but after our visit in DC - we have
NO PLANS and will be playing it by ear.
On this trip, we are joined by our fearless dawg, Snickers. He does not like
traveling. He is 11. He just wants to be home - with me. So, on this trip we
are compromising. Snickers gets to be with me and I get to be in my "other
home". (Poor DT.) I have a long list of kennels and doggie daycares, so
hopefully we will have an enjoyable trip with my "shadow".
We left The Manor and The Cats (Nancy is caring for our budgie Joe Paterno)
with a house sitter and hit the road at 9 am, found our way to I-84, looked
east and did not stop (much) until we were in Boise and a different time
zone. We are at an old (run-down) RV park, with the redeeming feature of
being on a 25-mile-long bike path along the Boise River. The satellite is
up, the Mariners are on, we have had a nice dinner (huge salad and freshly
baked home-made sourdough baguette), Snickers is sleeping and I am typing
away.
Our trip is going to start with two hard days of driving, so maybe there
will be no excitement here for a few days. Not to worry - this time I have
TWO digital cameras and a drawer-full of guide books! We will certainly find
a few things to amuse ourselves along the way to Washington, DC. And
possibly a few things to amuse you too.
