A-OK Campground in Lafayette, Indiana

Friday - 4 October 2002: West Lafayette, Indiana - Not a very exciting update today - we just drove and drove and drove and drove in a horrible storm. Straight south, mostly on 31, on flat, straight roads. The wind was trying to blow Goldie into the next lane, but hubby held her steady! At times, it was raining so hard, we could hardly see in front of us. Luckily, Snickers was snoring away and didn't notice the howling storm, or he would have joined in. By the time we arrived in West Lafayette, DT was exhausted. We have the last known campsite in a 25-mile-radius. This is Feast of the Hunter's Moon weekend - some sort of reenactment of the fur trading days. We are not in the nicest campground in the world, but we have the three necessities of the weekend. Yes, we are at the A-OK Campground, recommended to us in Cody, Wyoming.

For those of you not clued-in: We are here to see an old family friend, Chris, a freshman at Purdue University!

So, our necessities: 1) We must be able to get satellite service to watch Ducks v. Arizona. 2) Electricity is a plus. 3) Water hook-up so Chris can do his laundry while he is here watching the game and being force fed for hours. This will be the only DUCK game Chris will be able to see all year, and we drove over 2,000 miles to bring him the show! (Hey, why not?) Purdue is away this week (Iowa), but also on TV.

40 mph winds are expected tonight, but (to me) it seems to be calming down a bit. (While we were backing Goldie into the campsite, the fence at the front of the campground BLEW OVER!) Tomorrow, we plan to have a little tour of campus, a swing through the bookstore and then it is GO DUCKS at 9:15 p.m. (Purdue time). Snickers has a beauty appointment and a play date.
