Hilton Head Island
Sunday - 27 October 2002: Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
- We had a quiet day. I guess we slept-in, due to the time change. No
fun yesterday - watching the Ducks, and then the Giants, lose!
We spent the day with our dog. We went on a long walk this morning, after a nice breakfast -
blueberry pancakes. This afternoon we did a driving tour of Hilton Head Island and visited a local beach. Snickers had
a fine time. You can't really "see" the island. It is very lush and tropical and they have serious
building restrictions. There are few roads on the island and they are
landscaped. There are shops and business, but they are behind a buffer of
dense foliage. A small sign - if you are really looking - will let you know
there is a gas station, Burger King and supermarket behind the trees. If you
want to go look at a "Plantation" (residential, golf resort and
hotel) you must pay $5! It's bad enough Costco makes me pay to shop with
them, what are the chances I am going to pay $5 to look at a golf course or
hotel? Hilton Head is simply beautiful though - everything is very fancy,
clean and expensive. The weather continues to be warm and wet.
This evening, we will be at home - pizza and cheering-on the
Giants.
