Reno Re-stock

Wednesday - 7 July 2004 - Reno, Nevada: After two near-500-mile days, we really took a break and drove 60 miles today. However, we did it in two separate mobiles. Just as we were leaving the campground this morning, we realized the Honda had a dead battery (still unsure as to why). The friendly owner of the campground was happy to jump-start us, but we decided it would be best if I drove the Honda to Reno while DT maneuvered the bus to the Biggest Little City in the World. We are in Reno for one reason and one reason only - to get ready for 10 days in Sacramento. After checking into our campsite, we had the Honda washed, shopped at Office Depot, Safeway and Costco! We are stocked!

We found everything on our list and saw an amusing sight while driving around Reno! How cute is this dog? His owner was pretty cute too and she was laughing at me snapping her pooches photo. (Bet she didn't imagine it will be on the internet!)

This evening we went to dinner at the Hilton (NOTE: now under different ownership). There are several restaurants to choose from, and we went with the Asian version. It had an interesting menu - something from Japan, China, Thailand, Singapore and Korea. DT had sushi and I tried hot & sour soup because it was made with chicken (it is traditionally made with pork). Delicious. Our waiter was from Guangzhou and was very funny and friendly. After dinner, we went into the casino, but it was dead. They said they were having a huge convention of ex-Marines, but The Few and The Proud must not be gamblers. Too boring for us, so we came home to watch Will Farrell on The Daily Show, DT's favorite TV program.

Tomorrow: SACRAMENTO and 10 days of Track & Field! Expect daily sport and gossip-filled reports. Be there! However... if you do not wish to be there, please skip ahead to our final update from our 2004 BIG TRIP.
