We are home

Tuesday - 20 July 2004 - Portland, Oregon: WE ARE HOME! Our drive was, luckily again, uneventful. We spent two days on the road - stopping last night near Roseburg, Oregon at the Rivers West RV Park. Our only excitement was Brother Steve phoning bragging he had scored 31 Bengay patches on the last night of the trials! He said his patch stack now measured 14 inches tall! I think he could open a shop! Brother Steve also went home Sunday night with 2 loaves of Orowheat Bread and an Olympic Ballpoint pen!

We will spend the next several days unpacking and cleaning Our Intrigue. Snickers was very happy to see us again! And the feeling was mutual. Our wonderful housesitter, Karri, had taken very good care of our house again and everything was neat and tidy. (Until we walked in the door!)

First of all - another great trip, and another SAFE trip! This was our longest trip to-date. We were gone 92 nights, stayed in 42 campgrounds (average cost $28.89). The least expensive was in Winnipeg ($8) and the most expensive was the campground in Salisbury we stayed in while helping Lisa move into her new apartment ($45) DT drove an amazing 10,529 miles and we spent $2,302 on diesel. The shortest day was 42 miles and the longest was 478 miles.

But enough of the boring facts - it was an event-packed trip. Our Intrigue traveled through snow, rain, thunder &  lightning, wind, sand storms and, occasionally, sun. We celebrated DT's 49th, went to Matt and Marie's wedding, saw Our Lisa move to Boston where she started her first real job, celebrated the 4th of July in Denver with Our Family and attended the Olympic Trials! You would think that would be enough for one vacation... but NO! We also visited 19 National/State Parks/Monuments, 7 waterfalls, two universities, 9 State Capitol Buildings, not to mention Graceland, the Biltmore Estate, Hershey, the Amish Country, LL Bean, the Anchor Bar, a Budweiser Brewery, Ben & Jerry's, Carhenge and Cabela's! We saw so many friends and family along the way - and were able to see Lisa TWICE!

I would like to thank My Readers for continuing to peruse this site daily. Until our next adventure, I remain, your "There's No Place Like Home - except your RV" correspondent.
