Playa Bonita RV Park | Puerto Penasco, Mexico
Monday - 26 January 2004 - Puerto Penasco, Sonora,
Mexico: We had planned to leave today, but after talking it over
decided there was no reason to leave. The weather couldn't be better,
everything is so much fun, everything is so inexpensive, our fellow campers
are so nice... so we re-upped. The only problem is Mom & Dad would have move
one row over to a different campsite because someone had reserved their
campsite. They said okay, and started packing up to move 50 feet!

The Obstacle Course
I think this campground should be called The Obstacle
Course! We are squeezed in so tight, there simply isn't room to move and I
mean it! To move one row over, 4 people had to move their cars, one guy had
to bring-in his slide room and several people had to move lounge chairs,
bikes, etc. I even had to move a garbage bin! It is simply ridiculous.
Except it is part of the "experience" and everyone joins in to guide you,
give you advice, help and laugh. I can't tell you how many times we have had
to move our car in the past days so people could get in or out of a
campsite!
This afternoon, DT and I drove out to look at the new golf course that has
just opened at
Laguna del Mar. It is a Jack Nicklaus signature course and, at this
time, only the back nine holes are open. It looks to be a fabulous course as
they have constructed canals using sea water all throughout the resort! Very
pretty! When complete it will be something along the lines of a miniature
Sunriver-type resort - hotels, condos, homes, golf, tennis, beach, shops,
restaurants, etc. Someone is sinking quite a bit of money into Laguna del
Mar and one day it could be very nice. Or not. We didn't make a tee-time as
the girl at the pro-shop told us three people had played today. It is an
incredibly expensive $50 to play nine holes.
To thank all our neighbors (new and old) for helping my folks move today,
for Happy Hour (4 to 6 pm in this park) I made a big pitcher of margaritas
and two trays of munchies and we all gathered between RVs and enjoyed
ourselves. Mom and Dad are now neighbors of our new friends, Edith and Paul.
They are from Rainier, Washington and we have enjoyed their company all
week.

Happy Hour amid the metal

Another beautiful sunset tonight
Tonight we went to JR's BBQ in town. My Dad ate a slab of
ribs larger than a car. DT and Mom tried the smoked chicken and I picked at
my fish. (Nothing tastes good if you have a cold.)
All day, Mom and Dad's old campsite next to us has remained empty. I bet DT
no one will check in for the rest of the time we are here.
