Joshua Tree National Park
NOTE: We took delivery of our new motorhome
in November and headed south on December 9th. Our first stop was three days
at the customer care facility to fix all the little things wrong with our
brand new coach! Next we headed down to central California to spend the
holidays with family and visited friends in the Palm Springs area. Which
starts our tale...
Saturday - 27 December 2003 - Cathedral City, California: We knew
we had to do something today besides EAT, so we packed up the car and spent
the day in
Joshua Tree National Park.
We had been to Joshua Tree before, so knew where we wanted to go and knew
what we wanted to see. It is fitting Joshua Tree National Park was
established on Halloween in 1994, because it is a very eerie place on this
planet. Joshua Trees, actually in the lily family and closely related to the
yucca, are weird, twisted things. They do look like someone reaching up,
asking for help - though the tree was named by Mormon settlers who thought
the tree looked like Joshua, extending his arms to urge them on the promised
land. As you can see, we had beautiful - though chilly - weather. I won't go
into all the details of our driving, hiking and sightseeing in Joshua Tree
National Park today - I will just post photos - enjoy!
