Hike to Delicate Arch | Arches National Park
Sunday - 27 March 2005 - Arches National Park, Utah:
This morning - another sunny though not actually warm day - DT drove
the bus over to the campground near Arches National Park, and I followed in the
Honda CRV.
We checked-in amongst the chaos - serious confusion was brewing at the
check-in/check-out counter at the
Arch View Resort RV Camp Park. This place is huge. It is Jeep Week, they
have a gas station and a bratwurst BBQ and everyone and their brother
(literally) was standing in line trying to check in/out, pay for their gas, red
licorice rope, or bratwurst. DT had to maneuver through the RV Rodeo just to
find a place to idle the bus while I checked in! Twenty minutes later, we had
our space - right between my parents and my brother - and we settled in for a
three night stay.
My family was long-gone on their adventures, so DT and I drove into
Arches
National Park
and hiked to Delicate Arch. Yes, yes, long-time readers will
recall we have hiked this path before, but goodness, a good arch is worth
another visit! Here is our day, in photos:

The trail up - over a huge slick-rock formation...

... and around a sheer drop-off

Another Delicate Beauty, posed

DT climbed a sheer cliff to take a photo
of Delicate Arch through another arch!

We arrived back at the campground to find the family back from
their hikes. We gathered for dinner - Steve BBQ'ed chicken breasts, and we had a
fine feast.
