Taqueria Guerrero
Friday | 26 January 2007 | Indio,
California: Shabbat Shalom from the desert! Just another beautiful
day of warm sun and no wind in the valley. There is nothing like a sunny
day, with palm trees as the back-drop to cheer up an already happy girl.
Though we had to work a bit this morning, our chores were quickly
accomplished (and I baked a very pretty loaf of Challah - not too bad
from a RV kitchen, eh?) and then we were ready for a bike ride.

My work this morning
Horrors!
My Townie had a flat tire! This was quite a problem. DT tried pumping
air into the bicycle tire, but it had a leak somewhere. I found a nearby bike shop
on the internet and we phoned the shop.
Don's Bike Shop carried Townie's and said he could repair/replace the tire that
afternoon. My Precious Bicycle was loaded up into the Honda and we headed
out towards Coachella. The bike shop was well-stocked and a modern
establishment in a otherwise dodgy strip mall along Highway 111 between
Indio and Coachella. Don could have the bike ready in an hour. But, I
decided My Townie needed a lube job, so we will be picking up The Greatest
Bike in the World tomorrow afternoon.

Taqueria Gurerro
After dropping off the morning orders to the Indio International Post
Office, we headed out to try a local popular restaurant: Taqueria
Guerrero. Taqueria Guerrero serves tacos - mainly - and other basic
Mexican fair. They make their own tortillas fresh daily on premises.
Taqueria Guerrero (92236 83103 Ave 48, Coachella) had recently moved to a
new location, in a brand new space, and it was quite nice. Service was good
and friendly. I asked which was their most popular item and for once was not
answered with the most expensive item on the menu, but the least. Two tacos,
rice and beans - $5. Such a deal.

Chicken Tacos
The tacos were quite good. The beef tacos were covered with
lots of fresh chopped cilantro and served with a spicy sauce. Yummy. The
chicken tacos were not so spicy, but equally devoured. And, ohhhh, those
fresh tortillas... perfect little lunch.
