Bryce Canyon National Park

Ruby's Inn RV Park & Campground   We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
This campground is one mile from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and is a good choice if you have a mid-sized to large, want a full hook-up site or are traveling with children. Ruby's Inn offers a lodge, campground, tours, groceries, shops, a rodeo, cowboy BBQ, ice creams, several pools and hot tubs... well, pretty much everything and it is very nice. Full hook-ups and decent cell service. Pool, hot tub, restaurants, shops at the lodge.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point Campground  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
Even if you don't camp at Dead Horse Point - take the drive out to see the view! You will need reservations to camp, as there are only 21 sites. They have 20 amp service and no sewer or water. (All water used in the visitor center must be trucked-in from Moab.) (Big rigs: ask for sites 1 or 2.) This is a great base camp for exploring Canyonlands and there is a great - though not for those afraid of heights or with small children - hike around the point.

Green River

Shady Acres RV Park  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
We stayed here two nights, to rest after driving for several days in snow, so it served the purpose. The joint could use a little care-taking, but they had all the hook-ups in level gravel pull-throughs.

Moab

Canyonlands Campground   We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
This old-fashioned campground has all the basics and has huge shade trees. (Great if it is hot, not so great if you want to use your satellite dish.) They have cable TV, a pool, gravel sites. Nice staff. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Arch View Resort RV Camp Park  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
Arch View campground is outside of town and is very popular with ATVers. It is a large campground, and very dusty. They have 30 amp sites, a pool, service station, convenience store and is affiliated with Coast to Coast, but anyone can stay here.

Restaurants:
Across the street from Canyonlands Campground is the fun Moab Brewery. They brew their own beers and served decent pub fare. Kids are welcome. Zax's Woodfired Pizza is a great place to go if you are really hungry. They offer the all-you-can-eat buffet for a very reasonable price. Read our pub crawl Read our Postcard

Monument Valley

Goulding's Campground  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
Goulding's Campground is the perfect spot for visiting Monument Valley. It is a dusty place with red dirt sites, but it is clean and friendly. It is very quiet and there is a pool, cable TV, a newspaper box and small shop. Sites in the front will not be good if you are trying to use your satellite dish for TV or internet - a mountain is in the way - ask for a site in the back if this is an issue. There is no cell service in the area. The campground, the next-door hotel, resort, gift shop, restaurant, gas station and grocery store are operated by the Goulding family.

Provo

Lakeside RV Campground We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
The old-fashioned campground is two miles from town and on the river (more like a creek to me) and is on a very extensive bike path system - great for biking, running or walking.  Provo is a very pretty town. Read our postcard Read our Postcard Photos!

Salina

Butch Cassidy Campground  We Rate It  We Rate It
Just a basic overnight spot. We were here on Monday, July 5, 2004 - and were treated to the city firework show (the town would not do a show on July 4th because it fell on Sunday). We had a 50 amp pull-through and fantastic water pressure. They have a pool.

St. George

Temple View RV Park  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
Good amenities, but the park isn't much. Camped in gravel. The owners are very friendly, as are the staff, and a newspaper is delivered to your RV every morning. The pool isn't very nice, but the hot tub is very nice. (And, I guess I'm too short or something, because we did not have a view of any sort of temple.) The park is on a miles-long bike path system. St. George may have some of the best golf courses in the west, but they are seriously lacking in good restaurants. Cook in your RV. The town has also developed a vast array of day spas to pamper the many "golf widows".

Salt Lake City

Zion River Resort in Virgin, Utah  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It  We Rate It
A very nice campground on the Virgin River. They have a pool, hot tub and a small shop. No cell service, but there is a phone connection at every site. The park a bit far from anything though we enjoyed several nights here while visiting Zion National Park.
